Out of breath, again, I started to panic. I’m asthmatic. I had a fresh supply of inhalers safely in my pocket, but that was the problem. My regular, which I’d exchanged for a new try (if it doesn’t kill you) didn’t work anymore. It did, for about 4 hours, waking me up in the middle of the night feeling like the curtains had been layered around my neck.
“It’s not you, it’s in the air”, the doctor sighed. She’d had many patients with similar complaints. She send me home with a new red super-inhaler. Breath at last. God, if I come to die, don’t let it by drowning.

Poor Frea, rain pouring down on her for 5 days straight in Dublin. Makes me think of Snatch and its best quote on GB weather:
Avi: Eighty-six carats.
Rosebud: Where?
Avi: London.
Rosebud: London?
Avi: London.
Gemologist: London?
Avi: Yes, London. You know: fish, chips, cup ‘o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fucking Poppins… LONDON

One drizzly sunday I browsed to the Ambrosia website. Mmm. OK: that’s a lie. It was sunny and I had no reason to be inside. I just couldn’t resist checking out what new games these people had been creating. After all we’re talking about the creators of Harry the Handsome Executive, Mars Rising and Escape Velocity, the only games I’ve ever really been addicted to.
They had.
Darwinia. This real-time strategy game looks like eighties cult animation Tron and has you hooked in no time. I folded, took out my Visa card and bought Darwinia online. Don’t try it at home.

We were both attracted to Slovenia for this summer, but flights were too expensive and busses take ages, arriving at 3 in the morning. Then we discovered Wizzair and booked a 6 euro return flight to Budapest. Plus 76 euro taxes. This will be a welcome relief from last years two-week New York trip that truth be told, sucked up some of this years money as well. I can hardly wait to frame this gorgeous Hungarian city in black and white.

The first years I used the net to find stuff, I guess I kept thinking it would go away again. I saved lyrics, maps, tutorials in local files. After while, I found it a lot quicker to remember where I’d found it. Including your source in Google searches takes you back to that page you once found.
Trouble is, person like me with a tension to control everything, has to give up structure and confide in the omnipresence of the net. Scary.

Ants found their way to the office sugar supply. Little soldiers laying a trail for their comrades, marching towards delight. Eat Tupperware, soldiers.
